Surface Treatment –Electrostatic Coating

Following by anodizing and electroplating, this issue we continue with another surface treatment “Electrostatic Coating”. It is a process that efficiently applying certain or multiple properties on the surface of a workpiece in chemical or physical methods. This process sufficiently elevates product value, strengthens workpiece hardness and increases friction, wears resistance as well as prevents rusts and corrosion.

Electrostatic Powder Spray Method
The air-spray gun contained charged particles sprays paint on the object. The theory starts with adopting a high DC voltage between 30~90kv which goes through the electrically grounded paint object and the electrode of a spray gun. Due to the corona discharge at the gun’s electrode, the paint particles surrounded in the air would be charged by crashing with the ionized air whilst the powder sprayed from the gun by pressure.
With electrostatic field effect and the force of air, the paint particles fly toward the painted object and form the film by electrostatic force attraction.

Procedure of Powder Coating:

Advantages:

  • Less restrictions in dimension and shape
  • Enhanced wear resistance: The high baking temperature reinforces the heatsink hardness.
  • Cost-efficiency: The spray system can recycle and reuse painting material to avoid any waste.
  • Less color discrepancies: The powder spray can be formatted and controlled by the computer.
  • Eco-friendly: No harmful substance utilized

Application:
  • Home appliances
  • Transportation equipment
  • Electrical and communication industries.
