To start with skived fin heat sink, selecting the alloy, either cooper or aluminum. Using the sharp and accurately controlled blade tool to shave the alloy block into thin slices in designated thickness and at the same time lift up each individual fin vertical to the base. Furthermore, CNC process can be applied to optimize the heat sink in neatness and precision, especially on top of the fin and base of heat sink or to remove scraps between gaps.
The advantages of skived fin heat sink process:
a. Seamless integral structure of base and fins
b. High density fin structure to enlarge the area of thermal dissipation
c. Low tooling cost
d. Can be made in both aluminum and copper
e. Perfect for limited space application
