to 10 mins to warm up whereas 1 to 3 mins for EV, and

EV battery produces hundreds of watts during that window. Also, battery is connected to electricity to articulate components and systems in the vehicle which generate heat, therefore it’s extremely essential to dissipate heat and maintains an optimum operating temperature 24/7, all year around.

 
Thermal Solutions for Battery
 
The most popular thermal solutions for battery packs are nothing more than air cooling and liquid cooling.
 

 
Air cooling uses the principle of convection. As airflow goes through the surface, it will carry away the heat generated by the pack. Air cooling is simple and easy, but not able to cool down the battery pack in a short period.
 

 
 

 

 

 

 
Liquid Cooling
Liquid cooling is widely adopted for the battery pack due to higher heat conductivity and heat capacity compared to air cooling, and it performs efficiently. It is often one-way convection with a circulative channel, refrigerant of high thermal conductivity (such as water, ethylene glycol mixture, etc.), and indirectly contacts the battery pack to take away the heat. However, the complex structure also adds a lot of weight to the whole system.
