What is your stereotype when it comes to bonded heat sink? Individual straight fins bonded to base? This is no longer the case. Zaward has recently launched “Wavy Bonded Heat Sink”. The wavy fin structure enables additional 14% to 16% ventilative performance in comparison to conventional bonded heat sink straight fins.

Before we bring you to our new product, let’s talk about bonded heat sink.
Bonded heat sink is composed of two parts, fins and base. Individual straight fins and grooved base plate are bonded by thermal conductive epoxy for high strength and superior performance. It offers high flexibility in fin dimension of width and length and latitude of diverse materials integration, an ideal thermal solution for high power consumption applications. What makes it stand out than other heat sinks?

1. Optimized Ratio

Bonded heat sink can achieve up to 44 to 45 in ratio in comparison to 17 of extruded heat sink. Higher fins create increased surface area and optimize heat dissipation.

2. Flexibility

Material – Not limited to single material, different materials, such as aluminum and copper block, can be embedded in one and apply diverse processes e.g CNC machining, milling and oil degreasing. Hole drilling and thermal coating can be adopted for superior thermal efficiency.
Dimension – the nature of manufacturing process eliminates restriction of fin height and offers various features.
Solution – Adding bracket fan, it turns thermal module from a passive to active device and boosts its performance.

3. Application

Bonded heat sinks are widely used in applications in UPS (uninterruptible power supply) system, laser power supply, power rectification equipment, and thermoelectric modules.
