What is AC Fan?

AC fan is powered by alternating electric current, in frequencies of 50 Hz and 60 Hz (cycles per second). It changes direction 50/60 times a second in order to provide a constant flow. The usual voltage values for AC fans are 100VAC, 120VAC, 200VAC, 220VAC, 230VAC,

or 240VAC and use line current. Because AC fans can provide stable and constant airflow, it is widely adopted in home appliances and industrial electronic equipment.

What is DC Fan?

DC fan, which is powered by the direct current, has an uneven, variable flow. Typical voltage values for DC fans are, 5V, 12V, 24V, and 48V, driven by a power supply or batteries.

In the past, AC fans were typically less expensive than DC fans. Nowadays, thanks to the evolving DC fan technology drives product costs lower than AC fans and improves productivity. Energy-saving, cost-effective, low noise, long life expectancy, diversified sizes are factors why DC fans are most commonly used nowadays, and extensively adopted in a variety of applications, such as computing, server, telecommunication equipment, automotive, IPC, and home appliance.
