The energy crisis and surging inflation resulting from the Ukraine-Russia war have urged governments worldwide to seek alternative solutions and call for energy conservation or energy supply restrictions. As a result, more and more consumers are thinking about how to save energy to reduce expenses. EC fans become ubiquitous in our daily lives, from large to small cooling equipment apply variable frequencies of EC fans. Not only cooling equipment, but also traditional appliances, factory equipment, medical instruments, and other products are progressively promoting EC products to replace existing electrical ones in the market.

THE STRUCTURE OF EC FAN
- Permanent magnet synchronous motor. That is supplied with DC power and generates torque to drive the fan blades.
- Fan blades. EC fan blades are usually made of lightweight materials such as plastic or aluminum alloy and can provide sufficient air volume and pressure.
- Electronic variable frequency drive (VFD). It can adjust the motor’s voltage and frequency as needed to achieve energy-saving and efficient operation.
- Temperature and speed sensors. Both functions monitor the ambient temperature and fan speed for adjusting the fan’s operating parameters.
- Controller. Such as PWM control, Tachometer, Switch Relay Alarm, CAN bus control, and more.

ADVANTAGE OF EC FAN
EC fans, or electronically commutated fans, have several advantages compared to DC and AC fans.
- Energy efficiency. EC fan uses a permanent magnet synchronous motor, which is more effective than the DC brushed motor and AC induction motor. It consumes 70% less energy than AC Fan.
- Longer lifespan. EC fan has a longer lifespan than AC and DC fans because it has a better control system and generates less heat.
- Lower noise and vibration. Due to fewer moving parts, EC fan operates more quietly.
- Cost savings. While the initial cost of an EC fan may be higher than a DC fan, its energy efficiency and longer lifespan result in significant cost savings over time.
